Laser hair removal

What is laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is the process of using laser light to remove unwanted hair. It can be done on virtually any part of the body, such as the legs, arms, and even the face. It is an effective way of eliminating ingrown hairs, and most people only require about four treatments to complete the laser hair removal process. It is also a permanent process, so while it may be more expensive immediately, in the long run it can save money on shaving materials or waxing. It only became commercially available in the mid-1990s, yet in 2012 about 1.1 million Americans underwent the process. It is also relatively painless, and most lasers are equipped with a cooling device that will further decrease any discomfort felt.

What is a chemical peel?

Chemical peels are an exfoliation technique that use (you guessed it) chemicals to cause dead skin cells to peel off, which improves the texture and appearance of skin. Chemical peels are best used to treat acne scars, wrinkles, dark spots, and sun damage. Chemical peels are relatively painless, but there are a few complications that may arise. Due to the chemical nature, some scarring or other skin injury may occur. Infection is another possible side effect, as is the possible reactivation of cold sores. Recovery times for chemical peels also vary depending on the depth of the peel, ranging from 1 day to 21 days. In 2012, chemical peel treatments grew by 2%, or 1.1 million treatments.

What is botox?

Botox is a drug that is typically used to treat certain muscular conditions or to temporarily paralyze facial muscles for the purposes of removing wrinkles. Botox can be useful in treating migraines and bruxism (the grinding of teeth, particularly at night during sleep). There are two types of Botox, A and B, though A is more commonly used, particularly for cosmetic purposes. Cosmetic results from Botox may be seen within 3 to 5 days, but may take up to 2 weeks. Like the previous two, Botox has seen significant growth within the last few years. From 2012 to 2013, the number of Botox treatments increased by 8%.
